EVDIV 250 - Fundamentals of Acoustic Guitar: ‘60s Rock Wyatt Camery This class offers a hands-on introduction to acoustic guitar playing through popular repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries. Students will build essential skills in chords, strumming and picking patterns, rhythm, music reading, and basic theory all through practical study of the instrument. Each semester, the class rotates to feature a different genre or stylistic focus, giving students the chance to explore new repertoire and continue growing their skills from fresh musical perspectives.
In Fall 2026, students will develop fundamental technique on the acoustic guitar through 1960s rock ‘n’ roll and the music of the British Invasion. Throughout the semester, we will explore the riffs, chord progressions, and melodies of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, and other mods and rockers from the 1960s. With the guitar at the heart of their music, these artists defined popular music for decades to come and changed the world forever.
