Juilliard Extension Division Fall 2026 [ARCHIVED CATALOG]
|
EVCRT 113 - Orchestration (In Person or Online) Derek Weagle Orchestration is an essential course that provides composers with the necessary skills to write for Western symphonic instruments and voices in homogeneous chamber ensembles. This course is a highly interactive experience with weekly activities including instrument demonstrations, facilitated discussions with guest presenters, group score study, and readings of composition projects by students of the Juilliard College Division. Over this year-long course, students explore each family of instruments from most uniform to most diverse, beginning with the brass and string families in the fall and voice, percussion, and woodwind families in the spring.
Familiarity with professional music notation software, such as Sibelius, Dorico, or Finale is strongly recommended for this course.
