EVDOL 43 - JuilliArt: Exploring the Intersection of Music and Visual Art Elizabeth Weinfield What happens when music and visual art speak to one another? This immersive course invites students to explore the rich interplay between sound and image—how music shapes our experience of visual art, and how visual works influence the way music is composed, performed, and understood.
Anchored in Juilliard’s vibrant campus, students will engage closely with notable installations including Palette, a newly commissioned multi-disciplinary piece by acclaimed composer Anna Clyne, and Louise Nevelson’s striking Nightsphere-Light Sculpture. Students will receive complimentary tickets to the world premiere of Clyne’s Palette performed by the Juilliard Orchestra, along with an invitation to attend her exclusive pre-concert lecture. The journey continues with a guided visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where students will explore the European Paintings and Musical Instruments wings through the lens of creative and historical exchange. Whether you’re passionate about music, visual art, or both, this course offers a unique opportunity to experience how these two forms illuminate and inspire each other.
