EVDOL 33 - The Operas of G.F. Handel Christopher Vassiliades This course introduces students to the vibrant world of George Frideric Handel’s operas, tracing how his music defined early 18th century theatrical style. Through guided listening and discussion, the class explores the da capo aria, accompanied recitative, and other signature forms of the period while highlighting Handel’s unmatched gift for melody and dramatic characterization. No prior opera experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to dive into the dazzling sound world of one of Baroque opera’s greatest masters.
