Experience the evolution of sonata form through live performances by Juilliard pianists. Centered on Liszt’s monumental Sonata in B Minor, this course traces its roots through the works that inspired it—including Baroque fantasies, Beethoven’s Op. 27 and late sonatas, Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy, and Schumann’s Fantasy in C, Op. 17. Each class features live performances and discussion, culminating in a complete performance of the Liszt Sonata. Open to all music lovers, this unique course brings history to life through sound, context, and interpretation.
