EVCRT 242 - Keyboard Skills II

Mika Sasaki
Keyboard Skills II is a yearlong course that further develops musicianship skills at the keyboard. The curriculum is a continuation of its prerequisite, Keyboard Skills I. The course explores three areas of study: keyboard harmony, score reading, and transposition. Students will realize baroque figured bass, practice clef reading, transpose and analyze 19th-century songs, score-read selected chamber music and choral repertoire, and explore an introduction to improvisation and orchestral reductions of Classical and Romantic symphonies. Students may join in either fall or spring; however, spring placements are contingent on midyear vacanciesPrerequisite: Keyboard Skills I, or equivalent.
