The Jazz program at Juilliard Extension offers a dynamic exploration of jazz’s rich traditions, artistic evolution, and innovative techniques. With courses tailored for students at all levels—from beginners to seasoned musicians—our offerings include hands-on classes in jazz piano, insightful historical surveys, and thematic studies of African-American musical traditions.
Students refine their skills through practice, analysis, and live performance opportunities with Juilliard Jazz musicians, gaining an authentic understanding of jazz’s technical and expressive dimensions. From learning to comp in a rhythm section to studying the groundbreaking work of jazz legends, our courses provide a deep, immersive experience in this transformative art form.
