Level III of Self to Character introduces expressive animal and half masks as a provocation for transformation. The masks demand physical, vocal, imaginative, and emotional boldness, which allows the truthful inner life of the character to be found while engaging the dynamic possibilities of space, line, rhythm, sound, and gesture. Once experienced in the body, these aspects can be accessed unmasked, expanding the palette from which the actor creates.
