Resources & Special Programs

The Juilliard School places great value on the intellectual curiosity fueled by academic pursuits and offers a range of resources and opportunities aimed at nurturing that sense of curiosity in Juilliard students. Please follow the links below to find out more:

  • The Lila Acheson Wallace Library serves as a comprehensive resource for the Juilliard community’s research and performance needs with a collection that includes over 87,000 music performance and study scores, over 27,000 books on dance, drama, music, and general academic subjects, and an extensive archive of performances and recordings.
  • Writing and Communication Center invites students across disciplines to collaborate with peer tutors to develop skills in reading, writing, and public speaking in their academic courses, including Music History, Music Theory, and Liberal Arts.
  • Cross-Registration Programs allow BM students at Juilliard to take classes at Columbia or Barnard, and allow BA students at Barnard or Columbia to take lessons at Juilliard. Cross-registration opens up more possibilities for learning by leveraging what both of these New York City institutions have to offer.
  • Academic Honors courses provide students the opportunity to develop additional skills practiced in the core curriculum, such as critical thinking, selecting sources for analysis, and learning methodologies used by scholars in various disciplines.
  • Discover Juilliard, taught by an interdisciplinary team of faculty, staff, and advanced students, promotes an awareness of the skills and tools necessary for building a fulfilling career, not only as performing artists, but also as global citizens and advocates for the arts.
  • The Accelerated BM/MM Program is a highly selective program whereby students may complete the Master of Music degree in one year beyond the bachelor’s degree.
  • The Office of Academic Support and Disability Services provides individualized counseling and academic assistance in order to maximize student success and persistence to graduation.
