DRAMA 637-647 — Speech and Dialects I1 credit per semester Fall and Spring Patrick Mulryan
Speech and Dialects I focuses on finding the ease, clarity, and flexibility that will enable the actor to be heard and understood in a rich variety of texts. Students will learn all the sounds in human language, both within and beyond their own personal speech system. Students will identify their own unique idiolect and identify any articulation challenges, as they investigate, interrogate, and expand upon their physical capacities for expression. The International Phonetic Alphabet will be used as a tool throughout, as will aural samples and visual representations.
