Historical Performance, Graduate Diploma

Graduate Diploma Two-Year Residency


The Graduate Diploma program is for highly gifted musicians who want to pursue musical studies beyond the undergraduate level but do not wish to enter the full Master of Music degree program.  An undergraduate degree or diploma is required for admission.  Two-year Graduate Diploma residencies are exclusive for the following majors:  Collaborative Piano, Guitar, Historical Performance, Orchestral Conducting, and Voice.

Credit Requirement

The minimum number of credits required to complete the degree appears in each program.

Performance Requirement

A graduation recital is required of all Voice and instrumental majors. In place of a recital, Conducting majors must demonstrate artistic accomplishment equivalent to that required for the recital. That equivalency will be determined by the respective departmental faculties.

Notes:


  • Students are evaluated on an individual basis for most departmental studies.
  • Performance Ensembles comprise work in large and small ensembles as well as projects during the residencies of visiting artists, including master classes. 
  • Harpsichordists, lutes, and plucked instruments are required to take Continuo Skills in Context (KSMUS 635B-636B ) each term of residency .
