Through Community Meetings, Play Labs, and other practical training opportunities outside of school, this requirement seeks to translate our work in the studio and classroom into a broader understanding of the world and the profession. Community Meetings offer an opportunity to explore the context of our work as artists and citizens and broaden our understanding of the world. These gatherings are often devoted to a variety of guest speakers, offering students the ability to engage in enriching discussions of the political and artistic landscape. Through Play Labs, the community gathers to hear new works written by playwriting fellows and read by acting students. As part of this, additional performance and other related activities throughout the year, both inside and outside the school, develop a student’s career portfolio and are considered essential practical training.
