EVDIV 122 - Fundamentals of Violin, Part II Leslie Ashworth This course is a continuation of Fundamentals of Violin, Part I offering a friendly and engaging introduction to playing the violin—the instrument that arguably most closely represents the human voice. This course welcomes those who may be starting to play for the first time and those who are returning to the instrument and wishing to strengthen their grasp of the fundamentals.
Weekly classes are held in a nurturing small group setting with opportunities for individual work. No prior experience in reading music is required. This course will focus on developing a healthy technique foundation through both tailored technical exercises and enjoyable repertoire learned by rote.
The violin is a beautiful, vocal instrument. Students derive immense gratification from the experience of learning to express themselves on the violin and sharing the joy of music-making in a group setting. Application is not required for this introductory course.
Required Materials:
Full size violin (4/4), full size bow (4/4), violin rosin, shoulder rest.
