EVCRT 416 - Introduction to Interactive Music Technology Benjamin Louis Brody This introductory course explores innovative tools and environments that are reshaping the landscape of music composition, performance, and sound design. Students will engage with interactive music technology programs including MaxMSP, Pure Data (Pd), Ableton Live, Sensory Percussion, and spatial audio platforms such as 4DSOUND. Through hands-on exploration and creative projects, participants will build a foundation in interactive and experimental approaches to music-making using cutting-edge software and hardware applications.
The spring semester will also feature exclusive sessions with guest experts: Ian Chang of Son Lux (composer/performer known for Everything Everywhere All at Once and Thunderbolts), James Allister Sprang (specialist in 4D sound technology), Sean Thornton from AUX NYC (pioneer in audio branding), and Clarice Jensen (Composer, Cellist). These industry-leading artists will share their professional insights and guide students in mastering contemporary sound practices.
