EVDOL 23 - Miles Davis at 100 Nathan See Celebrate Miles Davis’ centennial by exploring his transformative impact on jazz. This course delves into Davis’ extensive discography, examining the diverse styles he pioneered, from bebop to modal jazz and jazz-rock fusion. It will also analyze influential recordings like “Kind of Blue,” “Sketches of Spain,” and “Bitches Brew,” and students will discuss the musical and cultural contexts that shaped his innovative artistry. By examining Davis’ body of work, students will gain a deeper understanding of his profound influence on jazz and his enduring legacy.
