EVDOL 34 - Musical Travelogues Mitchell Lyon Explore the world through the eyes and ears of renowned composers, uncovering how travel and cultural encounters inspired some of the most evocative works in the classical repertoire. From the windswept Scottish cliffs that inspired Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave Overture to the sun-soaked charm of Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence and the expansive American landscapes of Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony, this course takes students on a journey through time and across continents. Dive into the rich stories behind these musical masterpieces and examine how place and culture shaped their creation.
