From the windswept Scottish cliffs that inspired Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave Overture to the sun-soaked charm of Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence and the expansive American landscapes of Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony, this course takes students on a journey through time and across continents. Dive into the rich stories behind these musical masterpieces and examine how place and culture shaped their creation.
