EVCRT 414 - Advanced Composition (In Person or Online) Conrad Cummings, Evan Fein, Daniel Felsenfeld This course provides advanced composers the opportunity to work with multiple faculty members in the course of the year and to work on pieces of more extended scope. Work on these pieces may span half or full semesters. Students gain important compositional experience along with a sense of the range of compositional possibilities, aesthetics, and methods of realization current in the wider world of music creation. They sharpen their compositional identities and they continue building a public for their work. Extensive outside preparation is expected.

This is a yearlong course. Students may join in either fall or spring; however, spring placements are contingent on midyear vacancies.
Pre-requisites: Composition and Orchestration (or equivalent) is recommended but not required.
Placement application required unless pre-approved to enroll. Application deadline: Wednesday, January 7 @ 5pm ET.
