EVDIV 142 - Fundamentals of Piano II Eric Martin This course is a continuation of Fundamentals of Piano I and will explore a more in-depth approach to repertoire while combining keyboard skills developed in the first level of studies.
Classes will be divided into two sections. The first hour will consist of lectures and discussions on performance practices in a piano lab. Topics will include memorization techniques, historical and theoretical approaches to repertoire, how to properly finger musical notation, proper pedaling, relaxation, technical mastery. and a variety of keyboard warm-up exercises.
During the second hour, students will adjourn to a piano classroom where they will perform assigned repertoire in a master class learning environment and will have the opportunity to share ideas and performance practice techniques with classmates.
Biography: Eric Martin
Pre-requisite: Completion of Fundamentals of Piano I is required to enroll in this course.
Fundamentals of Piano II is a permission-only course, with enrollment by invitation from faculty.
