EVDOL 34 - Memory and Meaning in Classical Music Mitchell Lyon Music has the power to preserve memory and evoke the deepest emotions of loss, nostalgia, and triumph. This single-day intensive examines how composers have crafted works to mourn, memorialize, and celebrate pivotal moments in history and personal experience. From the delicate poignancy of Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin and the haunting resonance of Britten’s War Requiem to the dramatic flair of Beethoven’s Wellington’s Victory and the explosive triumph of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, each piece tells a compelling story.
