EVDOL 23 - Live at the Village Vanguard Nathan See Step into the vibrant history of the Village Vanguard, the legendary New York City jazz club that has been a hub of innovation and artistry for more than seven decades. Since the 1950s, this iconic venue has hosted groundbreaking performances and more than 100 live commercial recordings, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of jazz history. From the post-bop brilliance of Sonny Rollins and Bill Evans to the boundary-pushing genius of John Coltrane and Keith Jarrett as well as the contemporary mastery of Wynton Marsalis and Cécile McLorin Salvant, the Vanguard has been the stage for countless genre-defining moments. In this course, you’ll dive deep into a curated selection of these historic recordings while also exploring the work of today’s jazz trailblazers performing at the Vanguard, highlighting its lasting impact and continued relevance today.
