EVCRT 431 - Ear Training IV

Evan Fein
Building on the concepts of Ear Training III, this advanced course challenges students to achieve the highest levels of musicianship. Through score reading exercises, freely tonal dictations in one voice, tonal dictations in three moving voices, exploration of chromatic harmonic structures, and rhythmic dictations, Ear Training IV aims to polish skills requisite for a professional career in the performing arts, and is especially recommended for composers and conductors. This is a yearlong course. Students may join in either fall or spring; however, spring placements are contingent on midyear vacancies. Prerequisites: Ear Training III or equivalent skill level as demonstrated by an interview. Prospective students should possess reasonable facility at the keyboard and be comfortable reading in all seven clefs. Placement application required unless pre-approved to enroll.
