LARTS 378 — Justice, Law, and Film

3 credits
Spring
Anita Mercier

Prerequisite: LARTS 112 This course explores the themes of justice and law through the lens of cinema.  A diverse selection of films from different genres, historical periods, and cultural contexts will serve as the basis for critical analysis of the dynamics of power, authority, and freedom. Investigation of ways in which cinematic narratives have shaped public discourse and catalyzed social change will foster a deeper appreciation for the impact of storytelling on collective understandings of justice and the law.
