DRAMA 214-224 — Scene Study II3 credits per semester
Fall and Spring

Work in the fall concentrates on how an actor’s examination of the social, political, historical, and emotional world of the play brings specificity to the portrayal of characters. Through work on 20th and 21st-century plays, actors will articulate playable objectives, deepen character investment, sharpen listening, and expand their range.
In the second semester, actors will continue to develop their ability to identify, personalize, and embody a character’s given circumstances and need, and to activate the language of the text in pursuit of the character’s objective. Scenes will include challenging material beyond realism, including heightened text.
