EVCRT 142 - Keyboard Skills I Mika Sasaki This yearlong course addresses all aspects of musicianship skills at the keyboard. Areas under study include realization of figured bass lines with a given soprano; harmonization of simple chorale melodies; composition of simple harmonic progressions; an introduction to alto, tenor, and soprano clefs using up to four-part exercises; and transposition of 19th-century lieder up and down half-steps and whole-steps. Students may join in either fall or spring; however, spring placements are contingent on midyear vacancies. Prerequisite: Introduction Keyboard Skills and Elements of Music Theory & Analysis, or equivalent. Placement application required unless pre-approved to enroll.
