1 credit per semester
Fall and Spring
Sheryl Staples and Yoko Takebe

By audition. A class designed to give violinists the important musical, stylistic, and technical guidance needed to be successful in professional orchestral auditions and careers. Classes are limited in size and meet six times during the semester. Each student receives individual coaching on prepared excerpts, mainly from the standard first violin repertoire. For those qualified, concertmaster solo repertoire may also be incorporated with the instructor’s permission. Open to all Violin majors, and strongly encouraged for fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students.
