Juilliard String Quartet and Chamber Music Faculty
String Quartet: Students form string quartets and work on repertoire of any era of their own choosing. Coached by chamber music faculty. One full year required of all undergraduate Violin, Viola, and Cello majors.
String Quartet After Bartók: Seminal string quartets in a variety of late 20th-century styles by Carter, Crumb, Dutilleux, and Ligeti, among others. Course consists of master classes and individual coaching sessions, focusing on an understanding and realization of the score, as well as developing original rehearsal methods and dynamic performances.
