The Jazz program at Juilliard Extension offers a dynamic exploration of jazz’s rich traditions, artistic evolution, and innovative techniques. With courses tailored for students at all levels—from beginners to seasoned musicians—our offerings include hands-on classes in jazz piano, insightful historical surveys, and thematic studies of African-American musical traditions.
Students refine their skills through practice and analysis, gaining an authentic understanding of jazz’s technical and expressive dimensions. From learning to comp in a rhythm section to studying the groundbreaking work of jazz legends, our courses provide a deep, immersive experience in this transformative art form.
